Jeff began performing magic at the age of eight, and by the time he was sixteen was opening for the Fania Allstars on tour in Japan. He found himself fascinated by popular Japanese Kabuki theatre, which he immediately incorporated into his act, already filled with masks and martial arts overtones. On completing high school, the young magician moved into New York City and studied at the American Mime School while working full time in the Flosso Hornman magic shop. He was soon performing at New York clubs, including the popular Club Versailles, where he was discovered by super agent Billy Barnes, then manager to Tennessee Williams and Raquel Welch. Barnes immediately signed the talented young artist, and moved him up to work as opening act for such superstars as Tina Turner, Tom Jones and Diana Ross for their sold-out concerts and Las Vegas appearances. McBride eventually became a headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton's "Moulin Rouge" revue at the age of 25.

McBride's signature fusion of mask, myth, drama and illusion reflects his lifelong study of magic's multi-cultural roots. His first full-evening exploration of these themes, Mask, Myth & Magic, won acclaim Off-Broadway and on national tour, as well as at arts festivals in Barcelona (for the 1992 Olympics), London, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. He has been profiled in Elle Magazine, Town & Country, The New York Times, Harpers and dozens of other publications worldwide.

In addition to his work as a performer, McBride is a much sought-after lecturer and workshop leader for such diverse groups as The Smithsonian, The Disney Institute, MacDonald's 'Hamburger U,' the International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Omega Institute and many others. He combines dynamic performance magic with deep insights into what makes magic work, its enduring fascination and many uses - not only on stage but in business and personal life as well. ComedianSwami Beyondananda

Saturday, September 17th

Time: 8:15 - 9:15 PM
Location:
Conference Room Seaside B

"I got struck by enlightening during a brainstorm."

Steve Bhaerman aka Swami Beyondananda is the cosmic comic alter ego of writer, humorist, performer and uncommontator Steve Bhaerman. The Swami, whose favorite yoga pose is tongue-in-cheek, is the spokesperson for a new non-religion, FUNdamentalism (accent on "fun"). Says the Swami, "We are strictly non-dominational." In recent years, the Swami has performed at numerous political events, including the Transpartisan Alliance Citizens Summit, the Network of Spiritual Progressives Conference, the Department of Peace Conference, the Praxis Peace Institute Economics of Peace Conference, to name a few.

Swami's latest venture is to combine his non-religion of FUNdamentalism with the non-politics of the newly-formed Right to Laugh Party ("one big party ... everyone is invited"), to create one big evolutionary up-wising to overgrow the current dysfunctional system. He will also be launching his radio feature, Karma Talk this year -- to give folks from all over the world to ask the Swami answerable questions, and receive his questionable answers.

Film Screening 3 Magic Words
Saturday, September 17 th

Time: 9:15 - 10:15 PM
Location:
Conference Room 303

What if you woke up with amnesia? What if you had no recollection of who you were in the past? What if you had to look deep within to find the answer to life's biggest question, Who am I? Using science, geometry, nature and new spirituality, 3 Magic Words examines this question and it is explored further by the many experts in metaphysics. These guests range from best-selling new-age authors to spiritual leaders, and even children. The guests include; Neale Donald Walsch, Ishmael Tetteh, Gudni Gudnason, Debbie Ford, Gary Renard, Nassim Haramein, Dr. Zhi Gang Sha and many more.

3 Magic Words reveals an ancient wisdom about the energetic connection that humans have with all matter on the Earth and in the entire universe. The scientific point of view assumes that this energy is simply just energy without any intelligence whatsoever. The spiritual point of view is that all energy is imprinted with consciousness. The movie takes you on a magical trip into this consciousness at both the micro-cosmic and macro-cosmic levels as it brings you into a communion with the very fabric of this energy and shows you how to become an active co- creator and participant with all of creation itself.
