Russ House was drawn to alchemy as a youth. His search led him to join the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC, in 1978. He says that the teachings of the group helped him to acquire a firm foundation for the study of alchemy." Already familiar with laboratory techniques, he was able to start practicing alchemy in 1982. His continuing search led him to studies with Frater Albertus prima training at Paracelsus College),
Artofferus (who provided valuable keys to alchemical practice including that in the mineral kingdom), George Fenzke, Jack Glass, and Jean Dubuis. Russell was an early member of LPN-USA, studying courses translated from Les Philosophes des la Nature, founded by Jean Dubuis in France. In 1989, he attended Alchemy I at AMORC's Rose-Croix University, in San Jose, and from 1990 to 1993, he co-instructed the three levels of classes, with sessions in San Jose, San Diego, Chicago, and Washington, DC. From 1992 until 1995 he served as Director of Research and then Vice President for The Philosophers of Nature (PoN, formerly LPN-USA), and then as President from 1995 until the end of 1999. He appeared in The Magic of Alchemy for the Ancient Mysteries television series in 1997, and in 2007 published the novel, The Portal & endash; a Story of Love, Immortality and the Philosopher's Stone.
KEYNOTE PRESENTATION- Reflections as a Student of Alchemy
It has been my fortune to know wonderful teachers; I wish to acknowledge a number of those unique personalities and to share something of their work and spirit as I have experienced it. My journey in practical alchemy began nearly 30 years ago; some suggestions for students of the Art regarding the interior work as well as practice in the laboratory will be given. A decade of relative retirement from contact with the alchemical community and the restriction of my own practice to a minimum has allowed me some time to reconsider the value and necessity of alchemy. Let us consider the 'raising of vibrations' as an evolutionary function, and prepare to assume our given roles to assist in manifesting the higher potentials of life and consciousness.
